Position Summary:
The Senior Underwriter is accountable for executing underwriting strategy while balancing profit, pricing and production objectives within a team environment. Strong sales behaviors and strong technical expertise are key factors in driving the desired results of leveraging underwriting experience in professional liability markets. The Underwriter is responsible for profitably growing our professional liability book, providing industry leading customer value and demonstrating a ‘strive for excellence’ environment. All these activities are directed towards further establishing Hudson’s presence as the provider of choice for these product lines.
Essential Functions:
- Play a key role in working within the business unit underwriting risks for various lines of Professional Liability classes including: Technology E&O, Cyber, Internet Liability, Media Professional, Miscellaneous Professional Liability and Manufacturers’ E&O
- Develop a portfolio that helps in the department's goals of growing a profitable book of business across all lines.
- Work with assigned Wholesale broker/retail relationships and source business focusing on growth and profitability goals of the department.
- Take an active role in partnering with the management team to further identify production sources and identify profitable market opportunities and product/industry trends.
- Analyze individual risks and establish a portfolio with profitable results to manage and control underwriting exposure and pricing strategy consistent with company objectives and guidelines.
- Assist in the identification and development of new products and niche opportunities

Education/Experience:
- 7 to 10 years underwriting experience with at least 5 years current experience in cyber/tech
- Product development experience a big plus
