We are dedicated to developing future leaders of our organization and the reinsurance industry. Currently, we are seeking candidates with 2-5 years of Financial and Professional liability underwriting experience, preferably with a portion of those years in treaty underwriting, to fill the role of Financial Lines Treaty Underwriter.
The individual will report directly to the Head of US Financial Lines Treaty. The role will be based in NYC or Stamford, CT.
Essential Functions
- Perform underwriting analysis of existing and potential clients through comprehensive review of their experience, exposure, management, rates, coverage, financial standing and competitive environment in order to determine profit potential of reinsurance transactions
- Visit with clients to conduct underwriting audits, including determination of client needs and cross selling opportunities
- Negotiate terms and conditions to achieve bottom line profitability for the Company
- Source and convert on attractive new business opportunities for the Company
- Establish and maintain relationships with brokers and clients
- Identify risk exposures, special or common hazards, and appropriate controls
- Support the department aggregate management and portfolio monitoring procedures
- Travel 15-30% including international client engagement in the US, Bermuda, and London
Skills, Knowledge & Ability
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to travel
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- 2-5 years of financial and professional liability underwriting or broking experience
- Ability to manage both support portfolio management and client engagement
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment
Education
- Bachelor’s degree
- Knowledge of Financial and Professional Lines products, including D&O, FI, Cyber, Fiduciary, EPL, Crime, TL, LPL, APL, MPL
In New York City, NY the pay range for the role is $100,000-$140,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. In addition, Hudson/Odyssey offers a comprehensive benefits package. This range is specific to New York City, NY and may not be applicable to other locations.
Depending on the candidate's experience, the position may be offered at the level of Associate Director or Assistant Vice President.
