Job Summary
Hudson Insurance Group is seeking a Data Governance Analyst to help expand and mature our enterprise data governance program supporting our P&C insurance business. This role partners closely with the Data Governance Manager, business stakeholders, data stewards, and technical teams to improve data quality, strengthen metadata management, establish governance standards, and increase trust in enterprise data. The ideal candidate brings practical governance experience, enjoys building programs collaboratively, and is comfortable contributing ideas while working within an evolving governance organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Data Governance Manager to evaluate, recommend, and implement practical governance processes, standards, and best practices.
- Partner with business stakeholders, data stewards, and technical teams to establish data ownership, stewardship responsibilities, and strengthen collaboration between business and technology teams.
- Develop and maintain Critical Data Element documentation, business glossary definitions, metadata standards, naming conventions, and reference data.
- Support enterprise metadata management using Microsoft Purview, including cataloging, lineage, data classification, glossary, and stewardship capabilities.
- Establish data quality monitoring, scorecards, KPIs, and reporting to improve enterprise data quality through measurable governance practices.
- Coordinate root cause analysis and remediation of data quality issues and manage governance issues through resolution.
- Translate regulatory and compliance requirements into actionable governance policies and standards.
- Facilitate governance councils, stewardship forums, and working sessions.
- Provide governance training and promote data literacy across the organization to increase adoption of governance standards.
- Develop governance procedures, standards, and supporting documentation.
- Contribute to data modeling and documentation activities using Erwin Data Modeler as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in data governance, metadata management, data quality, or enterprise data management.
- Hands-on experience with business glossary development, lineage, stewardship, governance standards, and governance program support.
- Experience with Microsoft Purview or similar governance platform.
- Strong understanding of enterprise data architecture, metadata, master/reference data, and data lifecycle concepts.
- Working knowledge of SQL for data analysis and validation.
- Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority and build productive relationships across business and technical teams.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate between business and technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- P&C insurance experience (policy, claims, billing, underwriting, finance, reinsurance).
- Experience with Erwin Data Modeler.
- Knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK or similar governance frameworks.
- Understanding of privacy, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
- Experience reporting governance metrics using Power BI or similar tools.
- CDMP or similar certification.
In New York City, NY the pay range for this role is $110,000-125,000. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This range is specific to New York City, NY and may not be applicable to other locations.
