Position Summary: 

The Lead Business Analyst will be a motivated self-starter, joining a high-performing, highly-visible, cross functional team of BI Analysts and SQL developers. Operating in a fast-paced environment, they will have the ability to make a substantial impact on day-today operations and strategic initiatives. Operating across multiple disciplines, they will own projects directly for the executive team and senior leaders and will gain exposure to a variety of business units, systems, and processes. In addition, they will be responsible for helping complete all Statistical and Surplus lines reporting and will be expected to oversee/guide other team members to facilitate project completion. 

 

Essential Duties

  • Leads meetings with the business users and stakeholders to determine scope, requirements and proposes solutions 
  • Analyzes and converts business requirements to technical requirements, designs and implements solutions, and works with report developers on the team to deliver information in the most effective way
  • Turns data into actionable insights for stakeholders
  • Analyzes existing SQL (e.g. stored procs, functions, scripts) and makes simpler modifications as required or delegates complex changes to developers on the team
  • Lead and complete larger projects from start to finish while also being able to juggle multiple ad-hoc tasks as they arrive

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of PowerBi designing dashboard visualizations, building semantic layers, writing Dax/M Code. Any proficiency of Tableau is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of excel (Vlookups, Basic Formulas, Data Visualizations) but expert knowledge not required (will not be expected to write macros)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (able to write select queries, ability to understand unfamiliar stored procedures at a high-level is a plus)
  • Resourceful and strong problem-solver; proven ability to come up with solutions quickly and work with little guidance
  • Basic understanding and experience with version control software such as Git and CI/CD platforms such as Azure DevOps pipelines
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities and timelines is critical for this role
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills; capable of mentoring staff, making presentations/leading meetings, bridging gaps between technical and non-technical internal users, and working closely with senior management/executive team
  • Displays strong work ethic and motivation to consistently improve processes
  • Experience using ADO boards to plan for and track work across projects

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, computer science, Information Technology, preferred
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in the insurance, tech, or finance industries.

 

Office Requirements

This role offers a hybrid work schedule. Candidate is required to attend New York City office at least 3 times a week.

 

In New York City, NY the pay range for this role is $125,000 - $150,000. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This range is specific to New York City, NY and may not be applicable to other locations.
