Overview
The Statutory Compliance Analyst, Paralegal in the Legal Department will provide first line responsibility for various (re)insurance and corporate regulatory and compliance matters such as company registrations, licenses, authority filings and regulatory response.
Essential Duties
- Maintain insurance and reinsurance company licenses and authorizations in various states and countries, including processing renewals and liaising with state, federal and international regulators
- Prepare, coordinate & file monthly, quarterly and annual regulatory reports with state insurance departments, NAIC, ISO and various bureaus
- Collaborate with business units for data collection and preparation of monthly/quarterly reports
- Maintain calendar of compliance and data call due dates
- Manage and process various security deposits through the U.S.
- Gather information and respond to state and federal data calls and surveys
- Manage unclaimed property reporting
- Provide support to members of the Compliance/Law Department Legal team as needed
- Review, process and respond to various litigation documents including Subpoenas
- Monitor and research applicable insurance and corporate laws and regulations to maintain compliance
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of electronic compliance applications to make accurate and timely filings (i.e. Sircon, Optins, SERFF, etc.)
- Ability to organize, prioritize and manage high volume of regulatory deadlines
- Ability to work independently, as well as function in a team environment
- Flexible work hours during heavy filing periods
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Legal / regulatory research skills preferred
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- 2-5 years of experience in Legal, Compliance or (Re)Insurance
- Connecticut and/or New York Notary Public or commitment to obtain upon employment
